Sustainability - who cares pays
Government legislation, planners ’ permissions and tenants’ desires are all ratcheting up the green demands on commercial property.  Where’s it all going to end and who will pick up the bill?

Sir Michael Peat, Principal Private Secretary to TRH the Prince of Wales
Sir Michael Peat is Principal Private Secretary to TRH the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.  Previously he was Keeper of the Privy Purse, and before that a partner at KPMG. At the conference he will give his assessment of where climate change and the sustainability debate are going.

James Cameron, Vice Chairman, Climate Change Capital
James Cameron is one of the world’s pre-eminent experts in developing market based policy responses to climate change. He is also the Chairman of the £41 trillion Carbon Disclosure Project, and will use this session to examine the commercial opportunities offered by the low carbon economy.

Keeping pace with customers’ needs
As the price of space begins to fall and prospective tenants have more to choose from, what is going to happen to their demands? What do large occupiers – from pan-global organisations to large governmental departments – expect from their properties?

John Griffith-Jones, Joint Chairman, KPMG Europe
After over thirty years with KPMG, John Griffith-Jones became Joint Chairman of KPMG Europe in 2007. He oversaw the recent relocation of KPMG’s head office, and at the conference he will recount his experiences and give us views on what prestigious occupiers really want from landlords.

Sir Ian Andrews, Second Permanent under Secretary, Ministry of Defence
As Chief Executive of what is now the Defence Estates Agency, Sir Ian Andrews oversaw the development and implementation of the department’s strategy for the management of its land and property, and of a new approach to construction procurement. Sir Ian will bring his wealth of experience at the Agency and latterly at the Ministry of Defence to the conference.

Property investment – profit versus principles
Despite the credit crunch, there ’s still a lot of money around and people wanting to invest in property.  But what are they looking for and how transparent are the companies behind the investments?

Sir David Walker, former Chairman, Morgan Stanley International
A decade after joining Morgan Stanley, Sir David became Chairman of Morgan Stanley International Limited with responsibility for the firm’s activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. As the chair of a British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association working group on private equity transparency and disclosure, Sir David Walker will review his conclusions on the governance and future of the property industry.

Joseph Azrack, President and CEO, Citi Property Investors
With almost 30 years of real estate investment management experience, Joseph Azrack has the insight and knowledge of investing in the UK. As President and Chief Executive Officer of Citi Property Investors, he gives broad strategic guidance in shaping investment policy, process and strategy.

Politics and Property
What does the Government see as the priority for the property industry? Is it happy with the legislative framework for the industry or are there more things it wants to change? And how is the BPF working to shape the political agenda?

Caroline Flint MP, Minister for Housing

Caroline Flint became Minister for Housing in January 2008, and was previously Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform. She will make her first keynote address to industry leaders at the conference, looking at how housing has become a potential growth area for investors in private rented accommodation.
